Pio Pio is among our favorite spots for a cheap sit down place on the Upper East Side. Located at 1746 First Ave between 90th and 91st, this Peruvian place offers most dishes for $10 to $30 – not dirt cheap, but many of the dishes give servings enough for two people.
The lunch special, at $9.95, is a good deal with a quarter chicken with a salad and choice of sides. OK, so this is no $4 hamburger, but it is good as a New Yorker to get out and experience (inexpensively) some culture every now and again…
