If you're down near Astor Place or Union Square, stop by Blue & Gold Tavern for their $3 beers and $4 shots. This no-BS bar doesn't take credit, but they do take NYU hippies. The atmosphere in this bar is really cool, and isn't overly-divelike. You'll save considerable green over this bar's competitors by enjoying the cheap beers and reasonably priced food.
