TV tapings for free
New York City is one of the media capitals of the world -- three of the four major record companies are headquartered here, more than 200 newspapers and magazines have offices here, and of course, major television broadcasts call NYC home.
Entertainment is usually pretty pricey in this city, but fortunately television networks offer free tapings and broadcasts to people willing to be in their studio audiences. Notably, "Late Show with David Letterman," "The View," and "The Daily Show" are all based in NYC, and all offer free tickets. But, getting into the audience isn't always easy. Case-in-point, "Saturday Night Live," which only broadcasts one night per week during its season, has proven to be the most difficult show to score tickets to.
Also, it's important to note that tickets are easier to come by the further out you're looking to go - that is, don't plan to take a date to see a taping of "The Daily Show" and call up the day before.
